Pet Exams and Diagnostics in Lombard, IL

While a physical exam may help us discern clues about your pet’s overall health, it will not give us the full picture. For a more complete and detailed evaluation, we will need to use diagnostics. Carriage Animal Hospital offers complete in-house diagnostics, from a full laboratory suite to digital radiography and ultrasound.

Our veterinarians and technicians are skilled in working with these advanced tools and interpreting test results accurately and efficiently. Whether your pet is sick, injured or perfectly healthy, they can benefit from our imaging and lab capabilities.

Pet Diagnostics in Lombard

Offering Faster Results with In-House Lab Testing

Carriage Animal Hospital’s state-of-the-art in-house laboratory makes it possible for our team to run a test and obtain results within the same appointment. This is especially valuable for emergency situations or pets that need testing prior to surgery. For wellness and annual maintenance, we offer heartworm testing, complete blood count, urinalysis and tick-borne disease testing to check for signs of infection.

If we detect an issue with your pet that is still in its early stages, we can quickly explore and propose treatment options to prevent its progression.

Digital Radiography (X-ray)

X-ray is a tried-and-true imaging process that enables visualization of your pet’s skeletal system and abdominal and chest cavities. This tool is vital for detecting bone fractures, tumors, intestinal blockages/foreign bodies, limb deformities and other issues that cannot be seen on the surface. With digital X-ray, our team can produce clearer images of your pet’s bones and organs quicker than with traditional film X-ray. Furthermore, digital X-ray allows us to email X-ray images to other hospitals if needed.

Ultrasonography (Ultrasound)

Ultrasound is an advanced imaging tool that emits high-frequency soundwaves instead of radiation to produce images of the internal organs. Unlike X-ray, ultrasound provides us with a moving, real-time image of the organs, so we can assess their blood supply, texture and size in more detail. We can also check for pregnancies, cysts, fluid in the abdomen or lungs, and bladder stones.
